Kitaco Puppies Prevail at The Plains

Wow, What a weekend for our Kitaco babies!

This weekend found us out at McLeans Island for The Plains Kennel Association shows.

And our stars weren't the Team Kitaco stalwarts, Ava or Ben, but our new up-and-comers, Serena, Scotty and Raven.

On Day 1, Tracey was hard at work saving doggy lives. Thankfully Debra, Shelby and Haley, our Team Kitaco Support Crew, were on hand to help Jenny show the team. And what a great result! Serena (Kitaco Lipsync Assassin) and the youngest dog in the Long Coat line-up, under Australian Judge, Lance Wright, thrilled us all by taking the Reserve Best of Breed, the Reserve Bitch CC and Best Puppy of Breed, The others didn't let us down, though. Ava took Best NZ Bred of Breed and Ben took the Best Intermediate Dog.

Then we came to the Smooth Coats and in her very first Championship Show, little Raven (despite trying to stop and smell the flowers all around the ring) took Best of Breed! She also took Best Bitch and Baby Puppy of Breed. Scotty had to settle for Best Baby Puppy Dog of Breed and the Reserve Dog CC.

So onto Day 2 and with Tracey on deck, we ventured out to the Island again, and Serena did even better! This time our awesome little puppy, under Australian Judge, Michael Camac, took Best of Breed!

We are so thrilled with the potential this gorgeous young girl is showing. She has the sweetest temperament, movement to die for and the most beautiful head. She is doing her parents, Tinky and Ben, so proud. She has her mother's wonderful expression, movement and temperament, but just enough of Ben's sparkiness to make her stand out. And we are delighted at how happily she is taking to the show ring.

So, onto the Smoothies, and this time it was little Scotty's turn to step up. He took Reserve Best of Breed, the Reserve Dog CC and Baby Puppy of Breed. Raven was no slouch either. She won the Best Baby Puppy (Bitch) and the Reserve Bitch CC.

It is so rewarding when you have youngsters coming up, to see them doing so well. The purpose of breeding, after all, is to improve with each generation, so when your next generation can beat the one before, you know you're on the right track. Scotty and Raven are 4th Generation Kitaco puppies (out of Kitaco Quantum of Solace), while Serena is a 3rd Generation pup out of NZ CH Kitaco Ben de la Crème and NZ CH Kitaco Mastermind.

Thanks to the Committee, judges and all the hard workers at the show, and especially the caterers for their awesome ham, cheers and tomato toasties. :)
